we go new ways
one of my favorite pastimes is to read the google translated version of a Norwegian newspaper. while i actually read it for the news, i admit i also love the unintended funniness that ensues because of the translations. reading one article a few weeks ago about St Lucia's day celebrations, i happened upon a great new phrase: "we go new ways." my sister and i have since adopted this as our motto for 2014. in celebration of this, all the wonderful things we have planned so far for this year, and my newfound freedom now that i'm done with school, have inspired me to make a long list of things i want to accomplish or begin this year. instead of calling these New Years resolutions, this is simply my to-do list.
1. go to the gym.
2. practice the violin.
3. re-learn how to sew.
4. practice irish step dancing.
5. remember to update blog.
6. read up on circumpolar affairs.
7. practice Norwegian.
8. nano every month.
9. finish organizing my room.
10. make time for my friends.
11. try to keep my plants alive.
12. paint more.
also on my to-do list is to blog about each of these items throughout the year. i think i'll start each month by explaining why this activity is on my to do list. i think the first item on the list is pretty self explanatory though. i gained a ridiculous amount of weight the past couple of years and completely got off my work out routine. i'm seriously tired of carrying around all this weight, and am excited to finally authorize myself the luxury of working on my health. also i need to get my stamina up so when intramural soccer starts up at work this summer i'm ready! i guess i should have added practice soccer to the list! but you know, soccer is a part of a few of these to do items, so i'll just mention it as needed.
here's to 2014. we go new ways!
